Making a Good Impression Each Time

bankvaultnorm Making a Good Impression Each TimeFierce competition exists in the corporate world of finance. It is always important to make a good impression – whether it be the first, second, third, hundredth or thousandth. Every single time you face the bosses, your job is at stake. Every word that leaves your lips, every gesture, every article of clothing each contribute a characteristic that defines who you are going to be and what you are going to look like to the eyes of merciless management.

Three things will make the most impact on whether you are booted out or promoted. The way you present yourself – suit, tie, silk shirt and sterling silver cufflinks to deliver a professional image – is the first thing that matters because it is the first thing they see. Wearing the right accessories can make or break the game. Financial cufflinks will probably be taken positively, indicating your devotion to the field.

The way you speak comes second. If you look good but cannot express your ideas in such a way that the Board immediately understands, you may as well kiss your career goodbye. In marketing and finance, such skills can make or break a potential deal.

Lastly, it is important to have talent and passion for what you do. If you can speak well and look good, you may get the job in the end; however, to sustain it, you must actually be knowledgeable and competent. It’s the difference between wearing a pair of bank vault cufflinks and actually running a bank with its own vault safely protected.
