My Husband, the Know-It-All

May 30th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Connoisseur Cufflinks

My husband has always been a romantic sort of a man. He loves me very much so when he decided that we needed a romantic getaway for two in France I did not complain! He had booked our trip for three weeks and we were going to be touring round all the different regions of France staying in quaint little chateaus and getting a taste for the local life. Well we certainly got a taste for something. Our first stop was the Champagne region which is where they make authentic champagne. My husband and I went to a winery to sample some of the local delicacy. It was really informative and interesting learning about the process and how you can distinguish from actual champagne and a rip off alternative. Unfortunately the bubbles must have gone to my husband’s head because for the rest of the trip he kept having arguments with waiters that our champagne was not real. After a few days I stopped ordering it all together to save embarrassment! cufflinks connoisseur champagne bucket thumb 01 My Husband, the Know It AllWhen we came home he did the same thing over and over again. In fact it has become a bit of a family joke now so I couldn’t resist myself when I saw these connoisseur cufflinks shaped like champagne buckets. I had to get them! He saw the funny side in the cufflinks and wears them at any event where he knows we’re going to have champagne like a wedding. All I can say is thank God he didn’t take me to Brie!

2 Arms But Over 100 Pairs!

cufflinks cases master thumb 2 Arms But Over 100 Pairs! My Granddad has more cufflinks than anyone else in the world! He collects them you see so every time he goes to a new place or it’s his birthday he gets a new pair. This man only has two arms yet has over 100 pairs of cufflinks! It is fascinating to see all of them though and even for an old guy he still remembers where he got them from and even how much they were (which is quite amazing seeing as he can’t remember the names of his own children)! He has some pairs from Europe and some from the US. He has some plain and other with planes on them. You name it, he’s got it. It was a shame that he couldn’t showcase them all though. He loved showing them to people whenever they came over but he had to get his big case out and take them all out one at a time so I thought I’d make it easier on him and buy him a Master Cufflinks Collector’s case. This was the biggest cufflink case I could find! And because it holds up to 180 sets he can keep collecting even more! Not only that but it has a glass lid which means he doesn’t even have to open it to show people his treasured sets. So now I have the wonderful task of helping him organize his cufflinks into his case and no doubt hear all the stories about how he came to obtain them again and again.

Ideal for an 80s-Themed Party!

May 28th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in music cufflinks

cufflinks music mix tape thumb Ideal for an 80s Themed Party!I couldn’t believe our school reunion was coming up already. It only seemed like yesterday that we were terrorizing teachers and bailing class. But no, 25 years have passed and I hadn’t even noticed!

We got our invitations through the post for our reunion and I couldn’t believe my eyes! A themed reunion?! Worse than that an 80s themed reunion! Well I suppose if you can’t beat em you might as well join em! I got into the swing of things and went straight up into the attic to dig out some old outfits. I hadn’t realized that 25 years had taken its toll on my clothes and that they had miraculously shrank three sizes! So I went in search of another outfit that would actually fit me. I decided on a nice grey suit with a quiff to match and a nice pencil thin tie. I had so much fun looking for clothes that brought my youth flooding back to me. I even managed to have the trousers taken up slightly so they would show off my bright white socks! Now to complete my look, I bought some Mix tape cufflinks (found in the music cufflinks section). They were brilliant! They had tapes on them (funny enough) and were so 80s that they finished my whole outfit off perfectly! No one said it but I was the best dressed one there by miles, even the women’s perms couldn’t beat me and my wicked cufflinks. And at least I’ll have something to wear now when Halloween comes round.

The Lighter Alternative to Cufflinks

May 26th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in silk knots

When my husband got the promotion he had been after for so many years I was really pleased for him, but I was more pleased for our bank account. With great responsibility comes a great wage packets and finally after all the years of struggling we could live the dream! The first thing on my list was to join the country club. My husband didn’t really see the point of this and thought it was a waste of money but once I explained social networking (and not the kind on facebook) to him and how it would help his career progress even further, not to mention making some great friends he soon came round to the idea. Within a few weeks we had our first formal dinner and I was straight out looking for my perfect outfit to wow and amaze all these people I wasn’t allowed to socialize with before. My husband was easy enough to dress, a clean tux and he was ready, or so I thought. I had never really noticed but he didn’t like wearing cufflinks. cufflinks silk knots formal thumb 01 The Lighter Alternative to CufflinksHe said they clanged whenever he put his arm down and he was afraid of losing them. So I had to find an alternative. That’s when I saw the formal silk knots. They came in a whole array of colors and my husband found that once he put them on he forgot the silk knots were there. And with such a good price tag it meant I got to spend more on shoes!

Coffeeholics Anonymous

May 20th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in General Cufflinks

During my two-year study in Canberra, Australia, I worked as a barista at a coffee shop in the Civic. It was the best job in the world, I thought, for a coffee addict like me. I not only get free food at the end of the day but also free coffee throughout my shift. It was a sweet deal – I get paid for doing what I like and still be able to drink as much as I wanted. After the morning rush, I would already prepare a venti-sized cup of latte for myself. After the lunch crowd, I’d make another cup to calm me down. The only down-side to my work was that I had to wear these boring long-sleeved white tops with collars. I was able to jazz it up a bit with coffee cufflinks – always a conversation starter – a great find on a search for connoisseur cufflinks online. Cufflinks aren’t only for men, you know. Besides, it was the only accessory we were allowed to have while at work. I learned a lot from that job.

Firstly, I realized that coffee lovers are not necessarily connoisseurs. You’d be surprised at the weird preparation requests that some customers ask for. They can be quite fussy without necessarily ending up with good quality brew. Second, coffee drinkers are always in a hurry. The morning rush was just that – a rush. Whether it be 7, 8 or 9 in the morning, everyone thought they were late. Lastly, coffee drinkers are demanding. They expect you to recognize each of them from a sea of other coffee drinkers and be able to repeat exactly what they asked for the last time they were there – last month!

Going for One’s Dream

May 19th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in General Cufflinks

cufflinks music microphone thumb 02 Going for One’s DreamThe sterling microphone cufflinks were a hit. Mark, a family friend, had decided to audition for a talent contest. I guess it’s quite obvious that his talent was singing. When we were much younger and lived near each other, I remember waking up to the sound of his voice enveloping the whole community as he practiced his morning scales. Everyone knew how hard he worked to nurture his musical talents yet never got the courage to compete for his skills to be recognized. This was the first singing contest he was going to join and I really wanted to give him a token for luck. Cufflinks, to me, are the best choice. Music cufflinks were an even better idea. These sterling silver microphones were just perfect. Mark loved it so much that he wore them to the auditions. Mark told me afterwards that the jurors had complimented the silver cufflinks and helped to soften them up before he sang. Needless to say, he got through the first elimination round and is due for the second level interviews in a couple of weeks. I do wish Mark all the luck. Very few people are actually given a chance to live their dream so I believe that when the opportunity comes, you should embrace it with open arms. Fear and hesitation due to the possibility of failure will only cause opportunity to pass you by. Sure, you may fail, fall flat on your face when you push yourself to step beyond your comfort zone but in the end, what really matters is that you tried your best. Success shouldn’t be far behind.

Precious Equipment from the Golden Years

cufflinks music 45 record thumb Precious Equipment from the Golden Years

My mother has a fairly extensive collection of 1940s to 1960s memorabilia. In fact, she has probably the oldest working gramophone with probably the widest collection of singles on vinyl records in a single location during this day and age. In view of this, the old 45 record cufflinks I chanced upon while browsing online were clearly the perfect mother’s day gift. I didn’t think I would find anything as unique as these cufflinks. They were just the right type of gift – displayable yet useful. It fit perfectly in her collection. I didn’t think music cufflinks included 45 rpm records. The seven inch 45 rpm records were produced by RCA Victor in the late 1940s and instantly became a hit because it could carry as much music as the twelve inch records in a more compact form. Kind of like the compact disc replacing the VHS for visual media. Reflecting about this, I realize that even then, minor innovations in technology set the scene for the future fast-paced technology replacements we experience today. In the UK, it took the 45 rpm records about a decade to overtake the old twelve inch 78 rpm vinyl records. Now, bigger storage capacities and system upgrades become available on a yearly, even monthly basis. I guess this is why my mom likes to keep old stuff around. The gramophone and vinyl records still play music. Considering that it’s been almost half a century since they were made, you have to admit that they really must be worth collecting.

Children Can Wear Formals, Too

cufflinks misc wii remote thumb Children Can Wear Formals, Too

My primary reason for giving in to my son’s request for a Nintendo Wii gaming console was to hopefully make him get some exercise. I got him some boxing gloves and other accessories to enhance the capability of the wii console to provide a unique and active gaming experience for my son. The console was lodged in his room, of course, and it was close to impossible to make him stop playing and come out to eat. Imagine how much more stubborn he was when I was calling him out to attend mass. Well-pressed white shirt and wrinkle-free black pants were waiting for him near the shower room. It was a major scuffle, I tell you. He wouldn’t let go of the wii mote until I handed him the wii mote cufflinks as replacement. The formal clothes he had to wear were also quite a change from his usual get-up of t-shirts, shorts and a baseball cap. Thankfully, his cufflinks suited his personality; the wii mote cufflinks were perfect for my son, the gamer. In fact, with the cuffs on, he would often play pretend that he was some kind of superhero with powers lodged in his wrist. I just selected the wii-mote cufflinks from a bunch of miscellaneous cufflinks being sold online. Nevertheless, it worked. My son didn’t stop playing except maybe to keep steady as the links were being fastened. He would point his cuffs to this and that, slaying invisible dragons as if the cufflinks really were mini wiimotes. Whoever invented these probably had a stroke of pure genius and I had a shower of good luck at having found and bought it.

NCAA Cufflinks Makes Cool Dudes Out of College Kids

May 16th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in General Cufflinks

My dad once told me that the best gift he ever got from his mother on graduation days was his sports cufflinks.

To college dudes it is a trademark especially to the sporty ones. It is a mark that tells everyone where he goes to school and how cool he is. To a sporty college student owning an NCAA cufflinks or a sports cufflinks made them feel more in control and wanted. It made them feel they belong and it adds a sleek feeling to their being an active, sporty and cool college kid.

He said that college kids can be so emotional when it comes to the topic of NCAA, and that not a few fistfights erupted from the same topic. Nevertheless, they were still so happy to be expressive in their support for their beloved team. Cowardice, he says, is not a word recognized by these people. And a fight in the night will soon be forgotten the day after, everyone is friends with everybody again, and the world is happy.

My dad has always been a reserved person so I was quite surprised to hear him talk about fistfights as if he had been involved in one. Well, I guess, the fact that I still see him wear his Ole Miss cufflinkscufflinks ncaa ole miss thumb 01 NCAA Cufflinks Makes Cool Dudes Out of College Kids means that he still feels so strongly about his old school. Oops, I probably shouldn’t say that. He never likes it when I refer to it as his old school! He says that in his heart, he is still a part of Ole Miss.

Follow Grandpa’s Advice and Get a Cufflink

May 15th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in General Cufflinks

Grandpa used to tell me how important it is for a man to have his own identity and dignity. He says that the value and qualities of a particular person can be told by the way he handles himself. It’s always important to remember the age old proverb that goes “thou shall not judge the book by its covers”. Still, it’s a fact that most people are quick to judge people according to how they see and perceive them according to the clothes they wear and how they handle themselves and their status in the society. Now wouldn’t it be nice if you have a means to tell people just what is your status in the society by a little piece of accessory?

Over the years cufflinks has evolved into different things from being a piece of jewelry to being a norm in the executive world to being an expression of the status quo of an individual in the society he is moving around. Unique cufflinks offers different choices giving unique people to express themselves uniquely.

There are hundreds of unique cufflinks you can choose from, such as if you cufflinks animal crab claw thumb 01 Follow Grandpa’s Advice and Get a Cufflinkare an animal lover then you might need to browse the animal cufflinks section. Of course, even then you have a whole slew of options on how to express yourself. You might choose one that represents the animal you love to eat, such as the crab claw cufflinks. Or the one which may be more common is to choose one that is your pet, or at least an animal you care for.

Cufflink manufacturers have seen the ever increasing and growing needs of cufflinks so they come up with unique cufflinks to suite the unique qualities of every individual.
