The Most Dizzying Shopping Experience Ever

May 5th, 2008

So I am addicted to shopping, I admit it! My favorite way to shop is to wake up at ten after my husband goes to work and start my routing. I wake up, start the hot water running, turn on the TV and make myself a tall bloody mary. With my morning beverage in hand I commence my couture in the bathroom, by cocktail sitting on the toilet next to the shower curtain. After I feel relaxed I am in the mood to shop! I go down the stairs, grab the keys to my jaguar, and checking my purse for my husband’s credit card I walk across the lawn and blaze off to the most expensive outlet mall I can find. What to get today… strolling through the department store my mind is awash with possibilities. Then I realized that I should get something for my beloved husband! Rather selfishly I also thought a side benefit would be to spice up our romantic life. Then I remembered how much he loves cufflinks! Yes of course! I immediately went to the men’s department and looked at the cufflink selection. But what kind to choose? The spread of cufflinks before me was overwhelming. Brass cufflinks, gold cufflinks, silver cufflinks, even engraved cufflinks. And so many different designs to choose from. My choice came down to two choices. I saw an awesome set of brass suitcase cufflinks and a set of silver basketball cufflinks. After thinking I decided on the basketball cufflinks since that is his favorite sport to talk about and brass is just too tacky. I purchased the basketball cufflinks with my cold margarita in hand and gleefully stepped out to my shiny silver jaguar waiting for me in the parking lot. Even the silver jaguar on the hood seemed to smile at me in a shiny brilliance at my choice. Everthing was good on my car trip home. As I adjusted my rearview mirror I couldn’t help spy the shopping bag with my newest purchase in the backseat. At home I cooked up my husband his favorite meal… new york strip steak (rare) with sides of steamed carrots and a nice baked potato fully loaded all the way with chives, sour cream, and cheese. When he came home he kissed me hello in his usual hurried manner but when he found the dinner with his present his face lit up with the smile I remembered from our first years. Needless to say he loved the meal, the cufflinks, and especially the thought that I put into his special night. Well, it wasn’t exactly only HIS special night.
